A Vascular Ultrasound looks at the blood vessels in the body to see if blood is flowing well through them and to see if the structure of the vessels are normal.
Abdominal Aorta Screening – Main blood vessel through the body.
The sonographer will frequently be able to discuss the results with you on the day. However, a formal report will be issued within 24 hours which will include recommendations for follow up tests if required. The report will be sent to your GP or Consultant.
Images can be requested via our PACS system if referred to a hospital
The uses for Ultrasound are ever expanding within medicine. It is accepted as a non – invasive, cost-effective diagnostic modality. Ultrasound does not cause pain, there is no ionising radiation and is more affordable for patients compared with CT and MR. Often appointment lengths are also shorter, with no recovery period after the exam, leaving patients to continue with their day after the exam.
